Do you like adventure?

Bali and Lombok are Indonesia's most popular tourist spots, so they're pretty much "westernized" now, which also means more crime and over-tourism. Instead, how about a different kind of experience?

Have a different experience:

On Nias Island, there's a truly enchanting jungle, tons of beautiful, sprawling traditional Asian rice paddies that only produce for local families, and authentic markets where locals are genuinely surprised to see a "bule" – a foreigner! The ocean has stunning, nearly empty beaches with no tourist facilities, and you can even have dinner watching the sunset over the ocean for just about two bucks!

No Western Comforts...

We're not reaching out to local authorities or businesses to "improve" the environment or connections to make them suitable for Western tourists. Nope. That would create a "fake" and manipulated tourist attraction. Instead, we're trying to connect you with local families who might have land or a place where you can pitch your tent or stay temporarily, completely immersed in the local culture!

Is This For Everyone?

Not at all! Everyone has their own vacation style. Some people just want a "fake" adventure to tell their friends about; maybe they sleep in a tree, but it's actually a tree fully equipped like a hotel in a totally touristy area where no one in the local culture sleeps in trees! You can definitely find hotels in Nias, but you can also create your own "DIY" vacation with a camping tent and gear that lets you have a truly unique experience!

Benefits?

You really get to know the local culture, and what you spend goes directly to the local people, their "warungs" (small eateries), typical shops, their markets, and their families!
